As a parent, we understand that looking and searching for camps can be a long process, and you want to find the one that is right for your child.  We have compiled a list of questions to help you decide if Cho-Yeh is the right fit for your family.

What is the camp's philosophy?
Cho-Yeh is a camp who strives to be a place where relationships are built and lives are impacted in a Christ-centered environment.  Cho-Yeh's distinguishing factor is our exceptional college summer staff who invest in our campers and impact them through the love of Jesus Christ.  Cho-Yeh helps campers come alive in their faith as they witness the example of Christ through the staff.

What does the camp hope to accomplish through Bible study?
The primary focus of Bible study is to meet campers where they are in their faith and to assist them in growing in their relationship with God.  It is not our goal to convert every camper, but rather to meet them where they are in their faith and help them grow closer to Christ.  It is our hope that camp Bible study creates an environment where campers feel free to share their faith and explore the Bible with their peers and counselors.

What does the camp look for when hiring counselors?
The Cho-Yeh staff comes from all over the country with one goal in mind - to be "kid-loving machines."  Cho-Yeh prides itself on an excellent staff, dedicated to serving Jesus Christ through the ministry of camp.  All of our counselors are over the age of 18 and work a minimum of 5 weeks at Cho-Yeh during the summer.  Our counselors are part of our paid staff as opposed to using an all volunteer staff.   These incredible young men and women are committed to sharing their love for Jesus Christ with the Cho-Yeh campers.  Without a doubt, the dynamic counselors are why campers love Cho-Yeh!

Each potential counselor must fill out an application, provide Cho-Yeh with three references, and interview with one of the directors.  Cho-Yeh checks all references and conducts criminal background checks for the safety of your child.  Counselors are one of the most important parts of summer camp, and it is our goal to hire the best staff possible!

What is the ratio of counselors to campers?
Camp Cho-Yeh has a 1:5 ratio.

What type of training do the camp counselors go through?
Each counselor at Cho-Yeh attends a mandatory 8 day staff training session.  During this rigorous week, our staff members are trained in the policies & procedures of camp, how to comfort homesick campers, effective ways to share Christ, and many more critical issues.  Many counselors are also certified in CPR, First Aid & Life Guarding.

What are the cabin accomodations?
Campers live in a  cabin of 10-15 campers with 2-3 counselors.  They are grouped by grade, with a span of not more than two grades in each cabin.  The Sweet Gum, Hickory Ridge, and part of the Walnut Hill campsite have newly constructed cabins with central air and heat, and bathrooms that are located inside the cabin.  Cho-Yeh also has eight rustic treehouse cabins in Walnut Hill that are air-conditioned.  These eight cabins are grouped in pairs with a bath house outside the cabin for each pair.
