A More Normal Summer

We are so excited to be back for a full summer of great camp ministry! We know it’s been an incredibly difficult season for our campers and most of us are eager to get back to some sense of normalcy!

As summer approaches quickly, many of our families have been asking about Camp Cho-Yeh’s COVID-19 protocols this summer.  While much can change between now and summer, here is an outline of our current plan assuming Texas stays on the same trajectory with lower COVID-19 counts and increased immunizations.  Spoiler alert – it will be a far more normal summer than 2020!

Masks at parent’s discretion:  Since the vast majority of our day is spent outdoors, we do not plan on requiring our campers or counselors to wear masks or buffs at Camp Cho-Yeh this summer. However, if parents or campers feel more comfortable wearing masks, they are absolutely welcome to do so.

All large group programs will be outdoors:  All of our large group games, programs & gatherings will be outdoors. This will greatly reduce the chance of exposure in a large group setting.

Staff vaccinations:  We anticipate the vast majority of our summer staff will be vaccinated for COVID-19 (or naturally immunized) prior to serving this summer. Those staff members who are not immunized will be tested regularly.

Dining hall procedures:  Dining hall capacity will be reduced and procedures will be modified a bit to reduce contact with others indoors. The food will be as delicious as always!

Stepping-up personal hygiene:  You know the routine by now… lots of handwashing, sanitizing & encouraging great cough etiquette!

No negative tests required:   COVID-19 testing will NOT be required for campers before they arrive for their session. Requiring tests for non-vaccinated CLT campers is currently being evaluated.

As we all know, a lot can change between now and summer and we have all learned to hold things loosely.   We will continue to diligently monitor the dynamic nature of the pandemic and are committed to giving you consistent and accurate information.  More details will be included in the Parent Info Packet as we get closer to the start of Camp.

Can’t wait to see you this summer!

With you, for Him,
