Preparing for Life

Not all of our graduates will leave Compass knowing what to do with the rest of their lives, but they will leave knowing HOW to live the rest of their lives. Being prepared for that goal means cultivating a Christ-Centered faith, living in a nurturing community, and forging responsible character. Successful completion of this life-changing program will help set the stage for a successful launch into the next chapter of life.

More About Camp Cho-Yeh

Established in 1947, Camp Cho-Yeh is a premier Christian Camp and Retreat Center in Livingston, Texas, about an hour north of Houston. The term Cho-Yeh comes from the local Alabama-Coushatta Indian language and means “land of tall pines”. Every year more than 4,000 children age 6-16 and over 300 college-age staff come to the 700-acres of property to participate in 1- or 2-week sessions of overnight summer camp.  Cho-Yeh established a gap year program in 2018 in order to meet the growing demand for deeper discipleship for students age 18-22.  Gap year students live on additional property recently purchased on Lake Livingston.

Our mission:  To be a place where Jesus Christ transforms lives through meaningful relationships and outdoor adventures.

Camp Cho-Yeh has been impacting live for over 70 years. We are dedicated to helping people grow deeper in their understanding of the Gospel and are passionate about building the next generation of Christian leaders.
