One Interesting fact about me: I once took a trip to Costa Rica while in high school and was able to experience the vibrant culture of that country. While over there I visited San Jose, parts of the Guanacaste Province, and parts of the Limon Province. This was an eye-opening experience for me on how good we have it in the United States and has inspired me to pursue international mission work.
Why did you sign-up for Compass? I signed up for Compass to learn more about who I was as a follower of Christ. I also knew that I needed a lot more ‘life-experience’ before I decided to make a full commitment to college. Compass seemed like an excellent way to receive that experience.
This time next year what do you want to say about your Gap Year Experience?I want to be able to say that my Gap Year experience helped me learn how to work well with others and that I have grown in my relationship with the Lord. I would want to look back and see that I gained a solid foundation on what it means to be a Christian man, how to serve others, and that I’ve succeeded in overcoming the challenges that I have faced these past 9 months.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about taking a Gap Year?I would say that EVERYONE should take a Gap Year. But you need to remember that this is an investment of your time and money. You will only get out of it, what you put into it. You need to remember that in everything you do a strong work ethic is required. Use this time for change and understand that you are preparing for a new chapter of your life. But above all, make Christ the focus of this new journey and you’ll do well.
