Nick: Overcoming Obstacles To Come To CLT

I have been going to Camp Cho-Yeh for 6 summers. Ever since my first year as a camper I have been looking forward to going on CLT. I was registered to go during the summer of 2017, but then my life took a dramatic turn.

In January of 2017 I was involved in a horrible ATV accident that resulted in a 3-week hospital stay and 5 months of bedrest. As I laid in a hospital bed looking at my wounded leg, it hit me that I wasn’t going to be able to do many of the plans I had for myself that summer. The realization that I wasn’t going to be able to participate in CLT, the culmination of my time at Cho-Yeh, was devastating.

Missing camp last summer was hard for me. I missed seeing friends I’d made over the past 6 summers and I really missed that time of growth in my walk with Christ. One thing that comforted me was that God was still working at camp, even though I wasn’t able to be there. When my siblings were at Lifesong, it was encouraging to me that people were still being changed by the Lord and learning more about God.

I am incredibly grateful that I have recovered from my injuries so I can experience CLT this upcoming summer. I love the outdoors and I am excited about the chance to disconnect from technology so I can better focus on Christ.

The most exciting part of going on CLT this summer is that I will be able to experience it with my best friend from camp. We have been going to camp together for 6 years and I was afraid that our time together was going to end with my accident. Being able to be on the river together and be with other like-minded people will be an unforgettable experience.
